According to a law passed in the state of California, all servers of alcohol and their managers must be trained and certified in Responsible Beverage Service.
The Responsible Beverage Service Act, passed with Assembly Bill 1221, is designed to educate alcohol servers in their roles with the goal of reducing alcohol-related incidents in local communities.
An estimated 1,000,000+ alcohol servers at more than 56,000 establishments in the state of California must be trained and certified, starting July 1st, 2022. From that time, current servers will have 60 days to complete the training and certification exam. All newly hired servers will have 60 days from their first day of employment to complete their RBS certification.
